It usually starts with a patronizing privilege, oh those poor four people in poverty, they tax 8 people to (in their claim and as they hire their buddies to process it all) into poverty, then they notice the 8 and to get those out of it (and more buddies in the red tape department) they tax 16 more into poverty, and so on. Now while this has gone on, as they move to the next 32 people and eventual rubber checks, no one is out of poverty, just more are equally suffering this poverty. But worse, with a promise not to be.
The civil service quite well and rich though, in relation, old money holds on with some special tax breaks.
This is that Socialist mentality starting with a good intention and ending as a buddy system, where only ones benefiting are them.
It’s a cautionary tale on how we need to take some trepidation in the promises of some old insider political hack and even some new well intentioned people who will be that hack either too good to his buddies or too vain to admit error.
Not to say nothing will or can be done, but with the thought, not the feelings alone.

I know they say it was “never implemented properly,” but it had so many chances, Liberty had one perhaps in the birth of the US and despite slavery, it was declining and losing favor as a result. If liberty is given a shot, a long term, at least as long as the Soviet Union did, then it can great things.
